Easy Tips To Train Your Cat

Felines like dogs also likes the reward that comes with pleasing their owners. Training is always dependent on the owner's preferences. An untrained cat will tend to pee and scratch everywhere. This may result in frustration for the owner's part. In order to live along side with a pet cat, proper training is required. Training your cat may be difficult but it is possible. Patience, time and care are the ingredients to a properly trained cat. Here are a few Cat training tips that you can use at home.

The first cat training tip to restore the peace and order of your home is to teach the cat to use a litter box. Start training your cats early on as kittens. Place a litter box suited for the cat in your bath room. Lead your cat to the litter box after playing or after eating. Watch over them until they finish doing their business. A loving stroke or a treat can be your reward. Remember to praise them when they use the litter box. Give time for them to be familiar with the use of the box. They need time to get used to their surrounding and to understand what the litter box is for. Use positive reinforcement for this.

Avoiding the people or furniture scratching is the next cat training tip on our list. I'm sure you would hate seeing your furniture get ruined by scratches from your cat. The worst case of cat scratching will be seen on you. In order to control this behavior you have to be very observant and quick to act. Provide a scratching post for your cat and position it near the favorite object to scratch. Wait until your cat is about to scratch your furniture and then carefully place its claws at the new and real scratching post. Reward the cat if it starts using the scratching post. You have to remember that punishments don’t work for cats and that spanking will only instill fear in the cat which may lead to being distant. Use products with stron scents that cats hate on your furnitures to keep them away from it. This usually helps and you get home to find no new scratches. You can also provide many toys so the cat won’t get bored easily.

A well trained cat can be a very rewarding pet.
